About 40,000 foreign patients were treated at the Kerala Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS)

As part of Medical Tourism, about 40,000 foreign patients were treated at the Kerala Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) last year, KIMS CMD Dr M I Sahadulla said here today. Addressing a press conference, he said most foreign patients hail from our neighboring country, Maldives. But we do have a significant number of patients from Saudi Arabia, UAE, Sultanate of Oman, Canada, USA, United Kingdom, Germany, Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, Bahrain, Italy, Netherlands, Philippines, Qatar, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Switzerland and Zambia, he added.

 

The KIMS International Patient Care Centre offers world-class treatment, personalized attention and a comfortable stay to patients from overseas. The foreign patient traffic was increasing very steadily for the past few years, he said, adding it was 10,000 in 2008 and 25,000 in 2009. The hospital has international accreditations, including ACHSI (Australian Council on Healthcare Standards International), NABH (National Accreditation Board for Hospitals & Healthcare Providers - India), NABL (National Accreditation Board for Testing & Calibration Laboratories).
